Barcelona airport taxi price

Barcelona taxi prices are regulated. No licensed taxi can charge more or less than the official AMB meter, which means the honest answer to "what does it cost" is a calculation rather than a sales figure. Here is exactly how that calculation works.

Final fare is set by the official taxi meter. An invoice is provided in the taxi on request. The booking fee is a separate service charge for arranging your ride.

How your Barcelona airport taxi fare is calculated

Every trip starts with a fixed start fare, then adds a per-kilometre rate. Which rate applies depends on when you travel: T-1 is the weekday daytime rate between 08:00 and 20:00, and T-2 is the higher rate that covers nights, all of Saturday and Sunday, and public holidays. Supplements for the airport, the cruise port, Sants station and Fira Gran Via are added on top, capped at a maximum per service.

Is there a cheap taxi from Barcelona airport?

Not in the sense of one operator undercutting another — the AMB meter is identical in every licensed taxi, so nobody can legally be cheaper on the fare itself. What you can control is timing and vehicle choice: travelling in the T-1 daytime window costs meaningfully less per kilometre than at night or at weekends, and a shared arrival time for a group of four beats four separate fares. Be wary of anyone advertising a fare well below the meter; it usually signals an unlicensed vehicle.

The airport minimum fare

Journeys starting at El Prat have a minimum fare. If the metered amount for a short hop comes to less than that minimum, the minimum is what you pay. This mainly affects trips to El Prat town or nearby hotels rather than journeys into Barcelona.

What we charge on top

Our booking fee is 20% of the fare, paid online when you reserve. It is a service charge for arranging the ride, not a surcharge on the fare, and it never appears on the taxi meter. You see it as a separate line before you pay and receive its own receipt by email. You can also choose to prepay the whole journey at a fixed price, in which case nothing at all is owed in the taxi.
